Aston Villa head to Bramall Lane without a win in three games looking to keep up with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for UEFA Champions League football next season.

The Villans were beaten 1-3 at home by Newcastle United on Tuesday night, and held to goalless draws by both Everton and Chelsea (FA Cup) in their prior games.

Sheffield United offers Unai Emery’s side an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways. The Yorkshire club blew a 2-1 lead to lose 2-3 at Crystal Palace midweek, having been hammered 2-5 at home by Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup last weekend.

The Blades sit bottom of the Premier League table with just 10 points after 22 games, and some 9 points from safety.

Despite Aston Villa’s recent form and being held 1-1 in the reverse fixture just before Christmas, I expect them to pick up all three points in Saturday’s evening kickoff. Ollie Watkins is in fine form up front for the West Midlands club, whilst Leon Bailey’s pace should be a real threat for the host’s defence.
