Netherlands vs Sweden World Cup 2026 prediction

The Netherlands will be looking for three points versus Sweden on Saturday to give them a chance of winning Group F after drawing their opener versus Japan.
Ronald Koeman’s side twice took the lead in their opening game versus Japan before conceding an 88th minute equaliser. The European side were the better of the two in my opinion but set back both times after taking the lead in some quite odd tactics.
Netherlands have an excellent starting XI and a very good squad, certainly capable of going deep in this tournament if they play well. They showed they are capable of scoring goals but their defence needs to improve.
Meanwhile, Sweden were comfortable 5-1 winners over Tunisia in their opener in the early hours of Monday morning. Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres got among the goals against what was one of the worst-looking sides already in this tournament. A Sweden win I did expect but a hammering I didn’t see coming.
Despite this, I expect the Netherlands to come out on top of this one. With the attacking quality they have with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Donyell Malen and Crysencio Summerville they should be able to cause Sweden a lot of problems defensively. I wouldn’t be surprised if Memphis Depay started this one either. Then they have an excellent central midfield trio supplying the front line – Frenkie de Jong, Tijjani Reijnders and Ryan Gravenberch.
I think Netherlands pace down the wings will really hurt this Sweden side and a first win at this summer’s World Cup for the Oranje is on the cards.
Best bet: Netherlands to win is 8/15 with Bet365
