World Cup
Qatar vs Senegal prediction
Qatar’s start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup could have hardly gone any worse as they were comfortably beaten 0-2 by Ecuador on opening night, with the stadium left half empty for the second half.
Felix Sanchez’s side had been in training camp for six months prior to the kickoff, but one has to question what they were practicing. Goalkeeper Saad Al-Sheeb looked more like a clown than a professional footballer, whilst the outfield players were largely unorganised. I cannot see the hosts picking up a single point in their own tournament.
Senegal may feel hard done by to be beaten late on by the Netherlands in their opener, with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy at fault for both goals. Prior to the 84th minute opener, there had been very little between either side and few shots on target.
The African nation will bounce back on Friday I am 100% sure of that. They are facing the only nation at this tournament that have never qualified for a World Cup, and from their opening game many could see why.
Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia should lead the line up front once again and perhaps fancies his chances of becoming the first African footballer to score a hat-trick at a FIFA World Cup. Watford’s Ismaila Sarr should tear open the Qatar defence down the wing to create chances for both himself and teammates. Don’t be surprised if coach Aliou Cisse picks a more attack-minded lineup than the one that faced the Netherlands too.
I cannot see anything but a comfortable Senegal win on Friday.
