Netherlands vs Qatar prediction
The Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador on Friday will mean the Oranje will almost certainly need all three points from their final group stage game in order to win Group A.
Good news for Louis van Gaal’s side is that they face a Qatar side that have comfortably been the worst nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup through two games. In fact, only Canada can match their zero points after two games, prior to Ghana facing South Korea at the time of writing.
The Dutch manager can afford to rotate his side and still expect a comfortable victory at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
One player who probably won’t want rested in PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, who has scored in each game to date, and may fancy his chances of significantly improving his Golden Boot chances in this matchup.
Qatar did show some sort of fight in the second half of their defeat to Senegal on Friday, but ended up losing 1-3 none-the-less. Their goalkeeper has looked woeful in shipping five goals and they still looked quite unorganised in their second game, having looked a total wreck in their opening 0-2 loss to Ecuador.
The Netherlands have far too much firepower in this game and they will run out comfortable winners.
