Man Utd vs Liverpool prediction

HINT: Liverpool ODDS: 9/10 1 SEP @ 16:00

The final Premier League game before the international break sees rivals Manchester United host Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

New Reds boss Arne Slot heads for his first match at Old Trafford with back-to-back wins to start his time in England – 2-0 at newcomers Ipswich Town and the same scoreline at home to Brentford last weekend.

Tactics under the new manager appear to be establishing a comfortable lead and killing the game off. They scored twice in a 5-minute spell at Portman Road before creating little else after 65 minutes in their season opener. They didn’t double their lead at home to Brentford until the 70th minute versus the Bees before seeing the game out comfortably.

Meanwhile, Manchester United opened their season with a late win at home to Fulham before losing in the 95th minute at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. Neither were impressive performances.

Mo Salah has scored in both of Liverpool’s first two Premier League games of the season and the Egyptian has a fantastic record at Old Trafford. Don’t be surpried if he gets among the goals again on Sunday. United’s defence didn’t look all that secure in their season opener whilst they shipped two last weekend. Liverpool have a much better attack than both Fulham and Brighton.

Liverpool’s defence has yet to be breached under Slot but should face a test at Old Trafford with the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and/or Marcus Rashford.

The visitors’ attack looks better on paper though with the likes of Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Alexis Mac Allister, and being supported down the flanks from both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

Although they are odds-on favourites away from home and the manager is new, I am confident Liverpool come away from Manchester with all three points on Sunday.
