Premier League
Man City vs Wolves prediction
Manchester City would be within 2 points of Premier League leaders Arsenal at full-time with three points at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. The Gunners would have two games in hand, with the first of those at home to Manchester United later in the afternoon.
The Citizens have only taken seven points from their past four games, but they came back from 0-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur to win 4-2 on Thursday night. That should give them great momentum going into the weekend against struggling Wolves.
Riyad Mahrez was in exceptional form in the second half in particular and is set to square up against Hugo Bueno in this one. Don’t be surprised if the Algerian is very influential in this game too. Rico Lewis was exciting bombing forward from right-back during the week too so it will be interesting to see whether the 18-year-old will start a second successive game or whether Kyle Walker is recalled.
Manchester City had only scored one goal in three successive games before thrashing Spurs on Thursday and I fully expect them to add a couple more in a game they should win comfortably.
Julen Lopetegui’s Wolves have taken seven points in their past four games to move outside the relegation zone heading into the weekend. The one defeat in that run was against their only current top half opponent – Manchester United. I don’t expect them to be able to match up to the defending champions and hold them out for 90 minutes. They may well do so for 20, 30 minutes or so but the quality will eventually show.
Wolves themselves have really struggled with goals this season – Daniel Podence (5) and Ruben Neves (4) the only players with more than 1 goal to their name halfway through the season.
Best bet: Man City -1.5 is 3/5 with BetFred
