Premier League
Liverpool vs Man City prediction
Manchester City could have one hand on the Premier League trophy after Sunday when they travel to the defending champions.
Pep Guardiola’s side head into the weekend seven points above Liverpool and with a game in hand, and although they are only tied on points with Manchester United (also with a game in hand), I don’t expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to hold on to a challenge.
Liverpool are hoping to have their front three available and despite failing to score in each of their past three home Premier League games, you can still expect them to score past Ederson this weekend. It’s defensively that Reds fans should be concerned about.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are likely to be the centre-back pairing, neither naturals in this position, trying to deal with the movement of Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden, whilst Riyad Mahrez cuts inside from the right. On top of that, Bernardo Silva or Ilkay Gundogan are goal threats from central midfield should either or both start.
Liverpool’s poor run of late includes losses at home to both Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Meanwhile, Manchester City head to Anfield on a nine-game winning streak in the Premier League and keeping a clean sheet in each of their last six. To many people’s surprise I’m sure, John Stones, Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all playing very well defensively, with Ederson conceding just 13 goals prior to the weekend.
I am very confident that the form book continues on Sunday, meaning a Manchester City win. The counter-attack game in particular should be a big threat, both at 0-0 and if/when they take the lead.
Best bet: Manchester City to win is 2.2 with Bet-at-Home
