Premier League
Liverpool vs Man City prediction
Liverpool would open up a massive 11-point lead over the defending Premier League champions by taking three points at home to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Reds have won 10 of their 12 league games under Arne Slot with a loss at home to Nottingham Forest and draw at Arsenal the only dropped points. They were 3-2 winners at Southampton last weekend.
Manchester City were hammered 0-4 at home by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, making it three consecutive Premier League defeats as Pep Guardiola is going through his toughest spell as the Citizens manager since his debut campaign of 2016-17.
The defending champions have conceded two or more in six consecutive games in all competitions whilst Liverpool have scored at least twice in 10 of their 12 Premier League games this season. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are on fire this season, whilst Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez have also scored in recent games.
City simply do not look like themselves and I do not seeing them being able to step up and get a result at Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool are hitting on all cylinders under their new manager, and whilst they’re scoring frequently in attack they aren’t conceding too many either – keeping a clean sheet in half of their league games this season.
Phil Foden is out of form, Erling Haaland hasn’t had much supply recently and I expect that trend to continue this weekend.
I am surprised Liverpool aren’t odds on and much shorter odds than the bookmakers are giving. It’s simply based on reputation and not form meaning the odds on a home win are fantastic value.
