Euro 2024
Germany vs Hungary Euro 2024 Prediction
Hosts Germany kicked off Euro 2024 in style on Friday as they embarrassed Scotland 5-1.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side showed their riches as 5 players got amnog the goals. Bayer 04 Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz got the goals underway, with help from Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn failing to turn is effort around the post. Jamal Musiala doubled their lead on 19 minutes with a fine finish befor Kai Havertz converted a penalty before half-time. Substitutes Niclas Fulkrug and Emre Can were able to get among the goals after Antonio Rudiger’s own goal.
However, Thomas Muller came off the bench but was unable to get among the goals. The star of previous World Cups has now failed to score in all 17 of his appearances at European Championships. The 34-year-old could break his duck against Hungary on Wednesday if his coach puts him in the starting lineup, in a game they are widely expected to win comfortably.
As we predicted in their game versus Scotland, Germany’s pace in attack and technical gifted midfielders capable of opening up this Hungary defence. Don’t be surprised if they score a few in this one too.
Switzerland carved Hungary open in the first half of their 3-1 victory on Saturday. Hungary did create the odd opportunity, with Dominik Szoboszlai producing an excellent cross for Barnabas Varga to head home. Unless Germany take their foot off the gas in this one I think we’ll see a similar scoreline if not a greater margin of defeat for the Magyars.
The pace of Havertz and Musiala, and the runs of Wirtz should see all three of them have good sights at goal in this one, so feel free to put any of them in your fantasy team or back them to score the opening goal.
Best bet: Germany HT/FT is 4/5 with Bet365
