Premier League

Everton vs Liverpool prediction

HINT: Lay Liverpool ODDS: 1.84 17 OCT @ 12:30

The Premier League resumes on Saturday following the international break and kicks off at lunchtime with the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Everton head into the weekend as the only team on 12 points after their four games whilst Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their 2-7 hammering away to Aston Villa before the break.

Going forward, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have looked excellent as the league’s joint-top scorers with 12 goals, one more than the defending champions. However, they have not kept a clean sheet since their opening day 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool have had a mixed start – not overly impressive in beating newly-promoted Leeds United, but largely dominating in their 3-1 come from behind win over Arsenal, prior to their humiliation at Villa Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have had more players flying off across the world to represent their countries over the past fortnight but the Toffees have several international stars of their own these days, including James Rodriguez, who has been one of the best players in the opening weeks of the new season.

The Merseyside derby doesn’t usually bring up many goals but with the two attacks these two have and the lack of defending we’ve seen from them and the Premier League in general so far this campaign, we should finally be in for an entertaining Merseyside derby. I can’t remember using the word entertaining to last subscribe a match in this rivalry…

With the start Everton made and with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, I find it quite disrespectful that the visitors are odds on favourites heading into the weekend and I think there’s very good value in laying them as a result.
