Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction

HINT: Lay Chelsea ODDS: 2.18 29 NOV @ 16:30

Chelsea host rivals Tottenham Hotspur in an exciting set of Sunday fixtures in the Premier League.

The Blues return from France on Tuesday where they booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a late 2-1 win at Rennes, whilst Jose Mourinho was able to rotate much of his first team in beating Ludogorets in the Europa League two evenings later and still win 4-0.

Spurs head into the weekend as the Premier League leaders whilst Frank Lampard is receiving a lot of praise for a seven-game unbeaten streak in the league and taking 10 points from four in the Champions League. I would say that Chelsea have had a favourable fixture list, losing to their toughest opponent – 0-2 at home to Liverpool, whilst their only dropped points in Europe were a 0-0 at home to Sevilla.

Pummeling Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle United and scoring a stoppage time winner at Rennes is all well and good, but Tottenham Hotspur is a step up. They are on a four-game winning streak domestically, which includes beating Manchester City 2-0 last weekend.

Thiago Silva has been playing very well in recent weeks but it will be interesting to see if the 36-year-old can keep up with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and potentially Carlos Vinicius, after the Brazilian’s brace midweek. Chelsea’s defence has been much more secure since the arrival of Edouard Mendy but I am not confident they’ll be able to keep this Tottenham attack for 90 minutes.

Chelsea are the favourites for this match and although they aren’t odds on I do think there’s good money to be had by laying them, whilst a small stake on away win could give a return if Jose can win another game at Stamford Bridge.
