Chelsea vs Brighton prediction
Chelsea will be looking to move into the top 4 on Saturday when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s side are playing well since their 0-2 loss at home to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season, winning three of their last four. This includes a 6-2 thumping at Wolverhampton Wanderers and last weekend’s 3-0 drubbing of rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium, as we correctly predicted.
Nicolas Jackson scored an early brace in the latter before Cole Palmer put the game beyond reach shortly after half time. The former has been very wasteful up front during his time at the Blues, but has four goals in as many leagues games this season, such is the support for the striker. One of those, Cole Palmer, is one of the best players in the world right now. The England international and was involved in all six goals at Molineux last month.
Brighton & Hove Albion head into the weekend in 7th place, unbeaten in the first 5 games this season – back-to-back wins before successive draws. Fabian Hürzeler’s side won at Everton in the opening game of the season before a a stoppage time win versus Manchester United. That was followed by an impressive, but somewhat fortunate draw at Arsenal. Since then, the Seagulls haven’t picked up as many points as many fans were expecting held 0-0 at home by Ipswich Town and then 2-2 by Nottingham Forest.
With Chelsea’s performances and Brighton’s drop in performances of late, I think we’ll see a home win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. We can certainly expect goals and entertainment at both ends but I simply believe Maresca’s side have more talent and more form heading into the game. What’s more, they’re really good value at this price.
Best bet: Chelsea to win is 3/4 with Bet365
Value bet: Over 3.5 goals is 6/5 with Bet365
