Morocco head into their final group game with a good opportunity to progress to the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time since 1986 as they face a Canada side already eliminated from this year’s tournament.

The Atlas Lions‘ win over Belgium puts them on four points heading into the final group games, with Croatia also on four, Belgium on three and Canada zero.

Victory would ensure progression and give Morocco a chance of winning Group F too. No African nation has won a group stage this millennium to put things into perspective. They looked good in beating Belgium in their last game too so I cannot see why they won’t beat a deflated Canada side that were hammered 1-4 by Croatia in their last outing.

Morocco have a lot of exciting attacking talent with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Sofiane Boufal and Youssef En-Nesyri, and have yet to concede versus the two European nations in the group.

Whilst Canada created chance after chance in their opener against Belgium, the opposition were not at the races that day and still won. Although I didn’t have a tip for the Croatia 4-1 Canada game, I wasn’t overly surprised that the North Americans lost. I think it’ll be three losses from three games in Qatar.
