Arsenal vs Leicester prediction
Arsenal will be looking to bounce back at their 1-0 loss away to Manchester City last weekend when they welcome Leicester City to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s side have lost their two matches versus fellow top four contenders this season, whilst they’ve really not impressed since their opening day 3-0 win at Fulham. Their other victories this season have been a late 2-1 win against West Ham United and beating relegation place Sheffield United by the same score.
Meanwhile, Leicester City had looked like a top four contender in their opening three games – beating West Bromwich Albion 3-0, Burnley 4-2 and Manchester City 5-2. But then they fell apart either side of the international break – hammered 0-3 at home by West Ham United and 0-1 at home by Aston Villa last weekend.
Despite their past two games I do believe the Foxes will be battling for a top four this season, particularly with the inconsistencies shown by virtually all the top clubs this season. I was a fan of Arteta’s work in the second half of last season but there’s nothing in the early weeks of the new season to suggest that he’s made this Arsenal side a top four contender at all so far. Victory this weekend may help change that though.
Victory however, I don’t expect. I really believe Leicester can travel to North London on Sunday and get a result. Jamie Vardy has hurt the Gunners in the past and I believe his threat on the counter-attack will be Arsenal’s undoing in this match. Although they only conceded one goal versus Manchester City, they won’t be sat back as much in this game and Leicester have more than Vardy just to hurt them on the break.
I may not have tipped this if Arsenal were odds against but there’s good value to double your money on this one.
