World Cup
Argentina vs Australia prediction
Argentina overcame a loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to produce back-to-back wins that saw them win Group C.
Santiago Solari’s side were comfortable in beating both Mexico and Poland 2-0, and I am expecting similar dominance when they face Australia in the second round on Saturday.
Lionel Messi has produced a couple of moments of magic, Julian Alvarez looks a threat up front and Lautaro Martinez is another option in attack to the coach. Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernandez are looking good in supporting the attack from midfield.
Credit to Australia for getting past the group stage for only the second time in their history, especially after being thumped 1-4 by France in their opener. Graham Arnold’s side are hardworking but I just don’t see any individual quality in the team who can produce that moment of magic for the Socceroos.
With defenders playing for Hearts and Dundee United I just don’t see them being able to stop Argentina from scoring a couple. Particularly if they’re losing before the 70th minute and need to push forward for a goal or goals of their own.
Best bet: Argentina to win -1.5 goals is 3/4 with BetFred
