9/4 Championship Relegation Tip
Sheffield Wednesday will start the 2020-21 EFL Championship season on -12 points for breaching the league’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.
The Owls would have been relegated last season if the punishment had been implemented at the end of the campaign and not prior to this one.
Last season’s top scorer, Steven Fletcher, has left for division rivals Stoke City on a free transfer, whilst second top scorer Jacob Murphy has returned to Newcastle United following his loan deal. Atdhe Nuhiu was the third top scorer with three goals and his contract hasn’t been renewed at Hillsborough.
Garry Monk has been able to sign a couple of players at least, including Chey Dunkley and Josh Windass on free transfers from Wigan Athletic
Since Christmas Day, the Yorkshire club won just four of their final 21 Championship games, losing 14. Defeats included Hull City, Wigan Athletic, Stoke City, Luton Town and a 5-0 thrashing at home by Blackburn Rovers.
The Championship is a long season and it may be particularly long to Sheffield Wednesday this year as odds of 9/4 from Betway for them to be relegated appear to be a good long-term investment.
