4/7 Premier League bet that is printing money
The 2022-23 Premier League season kicks off tomorrow night with Crystal Palace playing host to Arsenal.
Defending champions Manchester City aren’t in action until Sunday when they travel to London themselves to face West Ham United.
Between then, Liverpool will also be in the capital as they travel to newly-promoted Fulham for their season opener.
Manchester City have been made the bookmakers’ pre-season favourites for the Premier League title once again with the best price currently at 4/7.
Pep Guardiola’s side have had an excellent summer transfer. Solely for the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund if nothing else.
Once criticism that was made of the Citizens last season was a lack of an out-and-out striker. Now the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish have arguably the best striker in the world to create chances for.
Kalvin Phillips also arrived from Leeds to sit in front of the defence as 37-year-old Fernandinho returned to his homeland as his contract expired at the Etihad Stadium.
Liverpool are the only realistic title challengers to City, just as they were last campaign. The Reds finish 18 points clear of Chelsea in third.
And although Jurgen Klopp’s side did only finish 1 point behind the champions, you can arguably say they have gone backwards in this summer’s transfer window. The sale of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich is a star they may be unable to replace.
Darwin Nunez has arrived from Benfica and Luis Diaz from FC Porto. And whilst they are capable of delivering in the Premier League, Mane could win games by himself.
I’m still not convinced the Merseyside club have a great deal of depth in defence and central midfield either, particularly in a season that is going to have more midweek games than ever as a result of the 2022 FIFA World Cup falling in the middle.
All that said, Manchester City are going to be clear and comfortable 2022-23 Premier League champions. With a price of currently 4/7 that’s 57% interest – a heck of a lot more than any bank will ever give you.
