Premier League
Wolves vs Chelsea prediction

Chelsea will be looking to rebound from their defeat at Everton on Saturday but won’t face an easy task to pick up three points as they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on a Tuesday night.
The fixtures are coming thick and fast for Frank Lampard’s side, who had been unbeaten in the Premier League for two-and-a-half months prior to Gyfli Sigurddson’s first half penalty at Goodison Park over the weekend. Carlo Ancelotti’s side had won just one of their previous seven in the league prior to facing his former side. A defensive mix up lead to Edouard Mendy conceding the spot kick. A close offside decision saw VAR overturn a second Everton penalty later on.
Chelsea rarely looked like equalising in open play, but Reece James struck the inside of the post from a corner, Kurt Zouma missed a decent left-footed volley from a knock down and Mason Mount clipped the top of the crossbar and later the post from a free kick in the second half.
Mendy and the Blues’ defensive record has been excellent on paper, but it’s worth noting some of their opponents in recent games have been Burnley, Sheffield United and Newcastle United. But credit to shutting out Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in 0-0 draws, I don’t want to take that away from them.
Wolverhampton Wanderers took 10 points from a possible 12 in October, but subsequent defeats to Leicester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa have seem them drop back into the bottom half. In some sense, the table is harsh on Nuno’s side because of the recent run of games they had. And whilst Chelsea won’t be a pushover, in fact, the hosts are the underdogs, I do think they can avoid defeat in this one and then go to Burnley in their final game before Christmas, looking to take three points.
I am still not sold on Frank Lampard, whom remains unable to get the best out of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and co. Whereas I think his opposite number midweek is a very good tactician. Because of that I think there’s great value in laying Chelsea as they’re odds on.
