Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rotated his side greatly for Thursday’s 1-1 draw away to Club Brugge in Manchester United’s Europa League Second Round first leg.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Red Devils but they have been handed a favourable game this weekend by hosting 19th place Watford.
The Hornets were 2-0 winners at Vicarage Road when these two met just before Christmas. That was the start of Nigel Pearson’s honeymoon period. That’s well-and-truly over now as his side are now winless in four, losing two.
They were beaten by strugglers Aston Villa a month ago and held at fellow relegation contenders Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have taken a 0-0 draw away from Wolverhampton Wanderers and a 2-0 win away to Chelsea on Monday following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. Solskjaer’s side look much more confident this month.
The Portuguese playmaker was man of the match on his debut and a good candidate in his second appearance too. This game could also see Odion Ighalo make his first Premier League start, though there’s no reason to drop Anthony Martial.
Manchester United’s odds are pretty short but given Watford’s form and performances of late I cannot see them coming away from Old Trafford with anything.
